Coyote Oaks Vineyards
The first section of the vineyard in Escondido, CA started as a test plot with 8 varietals on 5 different root stocks to best determine what works in the micro climate of the property. In 2006 winemaker and owner, Karen Sherman, planted Barbera, Sangiovese, Montepulciano, Nebbiolo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec.
Subsequent choices for additional plantings were made based upon vine characteristics, finished wines, and early results of finished wines. In 2009 additional Cabernet Franc, Barbera and Sangiovese vines were planted.
Our second location in Redlands, CA, was planted with Tempranillo and Sangiovese in 2012 and Primitivo in 2015. This vineyard is being managed by Chuck Sherman (Karen's brother) of GardenMasters in Redlands.
